Bandsoc Visit Site
Description
I have been elected Webmaster for the University of Warwick Bandsoc for two years running now, and am currently in the process of re-designing the website. The site was in desperate need of livening up, and so I created a funky colourful design which would bring excitement back into the website. As well as this, I added a number of features to the site which were designed to help the society. These included an online booking system, which removed the need for the unreliable reception based system that was in place prior to that. The booking system integrates PayPal Payments Standard, and has been very successful. As well as this, I built a system where bands could post profiles on the site, and add their gigs to a global gigs calendar. This not only helped bands within the society communicate, but also allowed visitors to the site to see the variety of musicians that take part in the society.
As well as the website, I maintain the forum, which is the hub of the society. This involves using a lot of spam prevention techniques, many self built, to try and combat the attacks we receieve each day.
